A self-described history buff, Carmody said he couldn’t wait to absorb the context of the property and its founder, Addison Mizner. “I became so impressed with Mizner’s flair, how his style was adopted throughout the resort, and how it continues to serve as an inspiration even today with our team,” he says.
After a successful career in health care management at Tufts-New England Medical Center, Carmody returned to his roots in hospitality at Boston’s Seaport Hotel & Seaport World Trade Center, where he served as vice president and general manager for nearly 18 years. He arrived to The Boca Raton to oversee not just one hotel, but two. Despite each of the hotel’s distinctions, Carmody comes with a belief that listening to hotel guests and their experiences will help him pivot and adapt the properties to their changing needs.
“Our members and guests are really sophisticated travelers,” he says. “And their expectations change with their experiences. You have to listen to our guests and what they are telling you. It’s incredibly important, and motivates me to make our properties better every day.”
